A Rocket Powered Railroad Car! (You Know You Want One)

The Aérotrain sounds like a plot device from a steampunk novel: A rocket powered railroad car designed to travel at ultra high speeds. This amazing retro tech project came out of France in the 60s from their quest for a high speed rail system. Could this forgotten gem give us inspiration to reinvent public transportation in 21st Century America?
