Canada’s jobless rate jumps to 6.6 per cent
The deepening recession took another bite out of Canada’s labour market in December as the country shed 34,400 jobs — 70,700 full-time losses party offset by part-time gains — and the unemployment rate jumped three-tenths of a point to 6.6 per cent.
