The number of people on the Internet surpassed one billion in December, according to comScore. The actual number is probably higher than that (Internet World Stats counted nearly 1.5 billion Web surfers worldwide as of June 30, 2008).

Two things are clear in the YouTube/Warner Music scuffle. First, neither side is 100% right. And second, users are very, very angry that their videos are being pulled down or muted when they contain background music owned by Warner Music.

Telstra BigPond — Australia’s largest ISP — has refused to take part, comparing internet filtering to ‘like trying to boil the ocean.’ The third largest, iiNet, is prepared to participate to highlight flaws.”
