A U.S. biochemist says he has uncovered the secrets of the unique sound of original Stradivarius and Guarneri violins. Joseph Nagyvary, a professor emeritus of biochemistry at Texas A&M University, has spent 33 years trying to prove his theory that chemicals used on the instruments are responsible for the distinctive sounds of the violins.

A man murdered his estranged wife after becoming “enraged” when she changed her marital status on Facebook to “single”. Edward Richardson, 41, of Mayfield Road, Biddulph, was found guilty of stabbing 26-year-old Sarah Richardson to death.

Just as Chrysler LLC announced a sequel to its ownership saga, the struggling automaker also unveiled plans to help underwrite the fourth installment of the “Terminator” movie series.
