Several unnamed sources are telling the satellite radio news site that the uSirius Starplayr program is being submitted to Apple over the weekend. The third-party application will then be just a head nod away from its official release through Apple’s App Store.

House passes $819 billion stimulus package with 0 GOP votes

The Democratic-controlled House approved 9 billion in spending increases and tax cuts at the heart of President Barack Obama’s economic recovery program Wednesday evening, despite Republicans’ charges that the bill is wasteful. The measure passed by a vote of 244-188. Eleven Democrats voted against the measure, while no Republicans supported it.

Saudi Arabian officials boast that the Care Rehabilitation Center has successfully deprogrammed scores of former jihadis, including scores of ex-inmates from the U.S.’s Guantánamo Bay military prison. The Obama Administration has announced that Gitmo will close within a year, and is already being accused by some of jeopardizing national security.

Microsoft Releases Source Code For Web Sandbox

nandemoari writes “After flirting with open source development for some time, Microsoft has made another step towards real commitment with the release of source code for Web Sandbox, a program used to test and secure web site content. The Sandbox source code will be released under the Apache 2.0 license, an open source license agreement allowing the content creator to maintain copyright while permitting others to develop the product for their own use. Microsoft has gradually been increasing their involvement with the Apache Software Foundation (ASF) since 2008 when they agreed to fund development of certain ASF initiatives.”
