Just a couple of days ago we reported that the MPAA’s website was vulnerable to an XSS attack, which left it displaying torrents from The Pirate Bay. This time a flaw has been discovered in the RIAA’s site, which now allows it to display TorrentFreak’s latest articles.

The GPI writes with a story about Scott’s Space Wars, a piece of gaming history: “This game was written by the famous game author Scott Adams, who founded Adventure International, the first multimillion dollar PC game company. It was founded over 30 years ago and developed for early 8-bit home PCs, i.e. TRS-80, Apple II, Atari. Scott’s Space Wars is the first graphics game that was ever written at home, for a 16-bit home computer. The original source code is available as photos of the original 1975 hand-written manuscript. The last purchaser of the manuscript paid 7,500 in 2005. A brief video shows how the game was played.”

nandemoari sends along word that Apple has picked up Richard Teversham, a senior Executive from Microsoft’s European Xbox operations, ending his 15 years of service to Redmond. Some press accounts assume that Teversham’s role may lie in beefing up the games scene on the iPhone and iPod Touch. Forbes goes farther, opining that Apple “appears to be preparing an all-out assault on the handheld gaming market.” Other reporting associates the hire with Apple’s recent buildout of chip-design expertise.

CWmike writes “Microsoft will not dump Vista when Windows 7 launches, and plans to keep selling it to computer makers, system builders, volume licensees and consumers at retail until at least January 2011, a Microsoft spokesman said, citing long-running policy. Earlier today, a Microsoft general manager hinted that the company might ditch Vista as soon as Windows 7 ships. He also said that support for all versions of Vista will end in April 2012. Neither is true, according to the company. Michael Cherry, an analyst with Directions on Microsoft, said, ‘to try to stop Vista or make it unavailable, that would just draw attention… The truth is, few people will be likely to order it once Windows 7 is available.'”

Now to be fair, many cell phone makers fail when they are too ambitious, adding cutting-edge features way before their time or taking a design risk. Without these noble failures, perhaps no iPhone would ever have been possible.The phones in our dirty dozen list all suffer from either design flaws or functionality failures, or both.

The new facility will be a 300mm wafer manufacturing plant designed for 32/22nm process technologies. Jobs, anyone?
